Project Quilting has me jumping. I didn’t get my thoughts together soon enough beat the deadline this time. No prizes for me, but I had fun!
The prompt for challenge three is 54/40 or Fight, a very traditional block that features the triangle in a square block on each side and four square blocks in the center and the corners. I made this blue version after the challenge was issued last Sunday, but I don’t like it!
I fiddled around with it until I landed on the design pictured above. I decided to keep the star element made by the four triangle in square blocks and tie it together with a square in a square in the center. Half-square triangles in each corner streamline the design and create the feeling of movement.
I like how it turned out. It has a southwest vibe, and the simple geometrics make it fun. I’m planning to use this design to make a set of cushions for the chairs in the den.
Thanks for reading! Which do you like better, the traditional block or the reimagined block?
