I made the blocks for this quilt in the fall of ’22 when designer Denyse Schmidt hosted a SewAlong. All the fabrics came from my stash. That explains the color-block background 😉 My sweetie likes this one and has already claimed it for his napping quilt.
It was a fun and challenging make. I don’t have the acrylics for this pattern, and I opted to make the patchwork arcs using the improv approach. Keeping all the blocks square was the fun part. Next time, I’ll choose one fabric for the background but still make the arcs scrappy. I can’t resist a scrappy quilt.
This project taught me that I can sew quilt blocks faster than I imagined. That alone is a valuable lesson! Learning better methods and collecting a few tools has dramatically increased my productivity. Now that I have more time, possibilities seem limitless.
What’s Next?
Here is a sneak peek of the Ohio Star Quilt I’ve been working on. The top is complete, and today, I am making the quilt back and getting it ready to quilt. I am so excited that I might finish this one in September, too!

Big congrats! I am still “afraid” of curves but I love this pattern. and I think the colorblock background works well. The snake pulls it all together. And awesome that it was already picked to be enjoyed 🙂 xo
