Several months ago, @cedar&emerson posted a beautiful Ohio Star quilt! I liked it so much that I made one very similar. You can see the original here. Thank you to Cedar & Emerson Quilts for the inspiration! I saved the image on my Instagram, and when we visited our family last summer, my daughter-in-law said she would like a big, fun, family-sized quilt. You know, one that you keep in the car to have on hand for picnics, beach trips, and shady afternoons.
I immediately remembered this quilt and decided it would be perfect. It’s a quilt that’s not too precious and made to enjoy life’s happy days.
I enjoyed working on this project. It’s a basic nine-patch quilt with sashing and cornerstones. The neutral background plays well with colors across the spectrum, and the stars are charming. I started by making quarter-square-triangles and built the blocks from there. Most of the fabrics came from my stash, but I did buy fat-quarters when I saw something I liked. The centers are fussy-cut, and I had fun scattering fabrics with affirmative phrases here and there. Images of elephants, bees, and bicycles also found their way into the mix.
The blocks finish at twelve inches square, with six rows down and five blocks across. The sashing added fourteen inches down and twelve inches across. The finished size is 72″ x 86″.
We decided to make a quick visit before the holiday season gets underway. I gifted the quilt, made some terrific memories, and got a few great photos in the bargain!
Thank you so much for visiting. I would love to hear your comments. I have new projects coming up and new goals for the New Year. Happy sewing to you!

Oh, that cutie and his teddy suit. I am sorry, he and his misschivious smile almost outshine your quilt. But only almost 😉 Congrats on your finish! xo
