I’m Catie at Quilting for a Happy Life. My goals for 2022 were to:
- Make quilting friends
- Start a blog and a quilt-focused Instagram feed
- Join a quilting guild
I didn’t make goals about how many quilts to make, but I still completed six quilts and several small projects this year.
I was successful with two of my goals and partly successful with the third.
I joined a quilting guild! I’m happy to belong to the Triangle Modern Quilt Guild in Raleigh, NC. The guild is where I am finding friends, but it takes time to build connections, so that’s my partial win. I missed a few opportunities to attend a workshop or sew-in, and I promised myself that I would be an active participant next year.
I also accomplished starting a blog and an Instagram feed! Instagram is pretty straightforward, but getting the blog up was more complicated than I expected. It still needs a ton of work. My biggest challenge is to build a consistent rhythm of sewing, writing, taking photos, and posting content. I definitely need an accountability buddy!
Goals for 2023
- Make quilting friends
- Grow my blog & Instagram accounts
- Focus on skill development
- Make two full-size quilts for our home
- Finish one quilt per month – small quilts are absolutely ok to meet this goal!
Cheers to the start of a new year! Hoping 2023 brings us renewed creativity, challenges accomplished, and quilting friends to share the journey!

It sounds to me like you had a very successful 2022. I hope that the goals you set for 2023 are helpful guideposts for you throughout the year, and I hope you have a lot of quilting joy in the year ahead!

Just looked through your IG and blog and think you did a great job! Couldn’t comment on the older posts put my favorite was “Annabelle” the blue-orange HST quilt. Love how you adopted a new layout and how it made your fabrics shine. Overall congrats on accomplishing your goals and all the best for 2023! xo
